Kerala Govt to award Rs 1 lakh for best school in 'School Wiki'

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 31 (UNI) The Kerala government would award a best school in 'School Wiki' with prize money of Rs 1 Lakh in the name of a beloved teacher.
The first and second position schools in the district level would also be awarded with prize money of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively, said K Anvar Sadath, Vice Chairman and Executive Director, Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE).
School Wiki (www.schoolwiki.in) is a collaborative content development and sharing platform launched by KITE to foster a culture of collaborative learning in Kerala schools and also to propagate Malayalam computing.
Made completely in Malayalam, School Wiki feature exclusive pages for over 15,000 schools, with their unique historical, geographical information on their and alike.
The first ever State level School Wiki award is in honour of K Sabarish, a teacher turned Master Trainer of KITE in Malappuram, who passed away on July 19, 2018. Sabarish was in the forefront of realising School Wiki as a major initiative for schools in Kerala.
"All schools who are currently a member in School Wiki would be considered for the award and they need not to submit any separate application for the same. All updations done in School Wiki till August 15 would also be considered for the award," Mr Sadath said.
In addition to the award, the exemplary contributions in School Wiki would also be used for grading the schools. Some of the parameters for the award include the accuracy of data in the info-box, content in each school pages, pretty url, frequent updations, additional pages, neatness of the page layout and its monitoring, school map, projects etc.
School Wiki, the largest school repository in Malayalam in the Government sector, has a total of 26022 members. As many as 1,09,915 pages in 14858 articles are featured in School Wiki.
School Wiki has won several national and international accolades including the Stockholm Challenge Award in 2010 and the Social Media for Empowerment Award in 2017.
School Wiki contains a vast information of schools right from their basic details to even the complete records of literary competitions held during the State School Kalolsavam.
