Kerala Governor receives Netherland King, Queen

Kochi, Oct 17 (UNI) Netherlands' Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander, who are on a visit to India from October 14 to 18, were received by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan at Cochin International Airport here on Thursday.

The visit of the royal couple, who reached here as part of a two-day visit to Kerala, is aimed at further improving the cooperation in the field of Kerala's Rebuild Initiative and the Development of Ports in the State, sources said.

Sources said the royal couple along with a media team will visit Alappuzha on Friday. The royal family will lead a 20-member delegation of professionals, CEOs of Dutch companies, technocrats, business tycoons and a 40-member team of economic experts.

The dates of the royal family's visit was fixed after a meeting between Netherlands Ambassador to India, Marten van den Berg, and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Delhi a few months ago.

During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Marten van den Berg mentioned that his country was lacking 30,000-40,000 nurses in the health sector. In this regard, the Delhi Resident Commissioner has been directed by the Chief Minister to co-ordinate with the Netherland embassy for sending experienced Kerala nurses there.

Dutch heritages in Kochi and 20 museums in Kerala will be modernised under the cooperation of Kerala State Archives Department and the Netherlands National Archives.

Azheekal port in Kerala will be developed with the support of Roterdam Port of Netherlands, it added.
