New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday exhorted the neighbouring state governments of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to come on a single platform over the issue of rising air pollution and the ways to control it.
While E-inaugurating the installation of 20 Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) at different parts of the capital from the Delhi Secretariat, Mr Kejriwal said he was willing to meet the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh over the burning issue.
'I will request them to think together and take all necessary measures to curb air pollution, which has become a major threat to the health of people of Delhi and these states,' he added.
Environment Secretary and Chairman of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) Keshav Chandra said the CAAQMS would measure air pollution on different parameters, including PM2.5, PM10, Ozone and Carbon Monoxide, apart from meteorological parameters like wind speed and radiation, humidity and ambient pressure.
The data produced would help the administrators to understand air-pollution related problems and take preventive actions.
It would also be used by CPCB for Air Quality Index development, enforcement of Graded Response action Plan (GRAP) by EPCA and different organisations for research on human health, he added.
This data would also be shared with CPCB for Air Quality Index Development, Mr Chandra said.
Minister of Environment and Forest Imran Hussain presided over the inaugural function, while Minister of Transport Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Social Welfare Rajender Pal Gautam, MLAs, Secretary, Environment and Secretary, Delhi Pollution Control Committee were also present on this occasion.
