New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Wednesday said Arvind Kejriwal Government’s step-motherly treatment has led to denial of basic necessities such as uniform, text books, stationery etc to nearly 60,000 students belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) and disadvantaged groups (DG) comprising SC/ST/OBC categories.
'These students are enrolled in 3000 Delhi Government recognized middle, secondary and senior secondary private schools built on private land. They come from unauthorized colonies, JJ Clusters, resettlement colonies and other such areas inhabited by deprived sections of the society. These schools are finding it difficult to provide facilities to students in time. The primary cause of crisis being faced by low budget private schools is due to delayed reimbursement amount of EWS and DG category students,' Mr Gupta said.
These schools with total strength 2.4 lakh students have 25 per cent seats reserved for EWS/DG categories, he said.
