Kate McKinnon joins ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 3 as Aphrodite

Washington, Oct 16 (UNI) Kate McKinnon is joining the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for its third season as a recurring guest star on Saturday Night Live.
The Emmy-winning actress will portray Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Variety reported.
As described in the official character synopsis, Aphrodite “can alter her appearance depending on the beholder” and must ensure that Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell, “respects the power and importance of love before she agrees to offer aid on his quest.”
McKinnon rose to fame during her decade-long stint on ‘Saturday Night Live’ (2012–2022), where she became one of the show’s standout performers. Over her career, she has earned 10 Emmy nominations, winning twice.
Her impressive filmography includes standout roles in Bombshell (2019), Yesterday (2019), The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018), and the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot. Most recently, she appeared as Weird Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (2023) and portrayed Carole Baskin in Peacock’s limited series Joe vs. Carole (2022). Up next, she will star in Andrew Stanton’s upcoming sci-fi feature In the Blink of an Eye.
Based on Rick Riordan’s beloved Percy Jackson book series, the Disney show is co-created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, with Dan Shotz serving as co-showrunner.
The main cast includes Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiered on Disney in 2023, with Season 2 set to debut on December 10. The third season, based on Riordan’s novel ‘The Titan’s Curse’, is currently in production in Vancouver.
