Karnataka govt to appoint foreign consulting agency to attract investment

Bengaluru, Jul 9 (UNI) To attract foreign investment in various sectors, the Karnataka state government
has decided to appoint an American Consulting Company, Law minister J C Madhuswamy informed here on Thursday.
Briefing newsmen over the Cabinet decisions, chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, he said that
the United States based, Boston Consulting India Group, would be appointed by spending over Rs 12 crore.
He said that the company will act as a nodal agency between the overseas investors and the state government
for attracting the foreign direct investment.
He said that the Cabinet had also accorded permission to develop and implement a software, E-Collection-2.0
in collaboration with a private partner with a cost of 184 crore for seven years. "The finance department had
already gave its consent for the proposal", he said.
Among other things, the Cabinet had also given its nod to raise the cap of Rs 80 crore to spend during
emergencies of natural disaster, to Rs 500 crore.
The Cabinet had also given its stamp of approval to release Rs 205 crore towards enhancement of infrastructure
facilities at District and Taluk hospitals, to equip them with oxygen facilities.
It was also decided to release Rs 81.99 crore, to purchase medical equipment and furniture for the
Health and Family welfare department.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to build an Airport at Vijayapura at a cost of over Rs 220 crore, the Minister said.
