Karnataka govt's Idea2PoC programme for start-ups a big hit

Bengaluru, Jun 28 (UNI) The Idea2PoC programme by the Karnataka government as part of its Startup Policy has attracted brilliant innovators and grants worth Rs 3.18 crore was given away to 12 start-ups today.

Speaking after handing over the cheques, IT and BT minister Priyank Kharge said Idea2PoC is aimed towards encouraging and discover briliant innovators in the state who need early stage funding to help in commercialising their products.

Considering the need of financial aid, funds are provided in form of grant-in-aid for an amount of up to Rs 50 lakh and 12 start-ups were today given away cheques for varied amounts.

'Karnataka is filled with young, talented and brilliant people and it is our responsibility to ensure that these talents are recognised. We have always supported start-ups in the state and will continue to do so. These 12 start-ups have a potential to make a difference,' he said.

IT and BT Principal Secretary Gaurav Gupta said start-ups are coming with brilliant ideas in the field of agriculture, BT, Data Security, Communications, Robotics and Gaming.

'Our vision is to promote and mentor these startups and provide them with all the assistance they require to become completely self sufficient that would also enhance the potential of the State,' he said.

Ms Salma K Fahim, MD of KBITS said the department was targetting start-up companies in new and emerging technologies such as animation, artificial intelligence, big data, virtual reality and other niche fields.

Those start-ups that were funded today include Dr Live Software, EasyKrishi, Selfdot Technologies, Lightmetrics, PiOctave Solutions, Geeksynergy Technologies, ispAgro Rototics, Astrome and Esyasoft. UNI RS CNR CS 1508
