Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to act in Kannada-English film

Bengaluru, Jun 22 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today donned the paint to act as a reel Chief Minister in a children's film Though not a first politician to figure in the tinsel town with some of his predecessors including former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde taking the leader earlier. He isacting in a Kannada-English film directed by Kavita Lankesh, daughter of veteran Journalist late P Lankesh and portray as chief minister inn ‘Summer Holidays’, a children’s film starring Kavitha’s daughter Esha (13) and nephew Samarjith (16) as the lead actors. Mr Siddaramaiah, who has made a name as veteran politician, is the first Chief Minister to act in a film while in office. He has set aside his busy schedule in political life and will be spending entire day in shooting in a Studio today. Actors Prakash Rai and Suman Nagarkar will also be playing key roles in the adventure movie featuring five children and a dog called Bheema. In the movie also his role is Karnataka Chief Minister and he will be met by child actors and interview him by asking questions onn various subjects. The film tracks a fun journey and about 80 per cent of the movie has been shot in Chikkamagaluru’s Koppa area and Bengaluru. Thanking Mr Siddaramaiah for agreeing to spare his time and act in the movie, Ms Kavitha Lankesh told newsmen that "when we were kids, we saw films like Nagarahole and Simhada Mari Sainya. Of late, children’s films are being made only for awards and subsidies. There are so few realistic children’s films. Everyone said we would get recommendation letters from politicians in power. But there wasn’t a single such letter from Siddaramaiah. His only condition was that there be no violence in the film." The movie was made both in Kannada and English as many kids like to watch in English language, she added. Though Mr Siddaramaiah had acted in some plays during his college days, this is for the first time Mr Siddaramaiah acting in a movie. "She was persisting me to act and though initially I was reluctant I agreed not to disappoint her," Mr Siddaramaiah said. UNI MSP CNR ADB1340
