Karnataka bypolls results show changing mood in the country: Cong

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) Following a resounding victory in the Karnataka bypolls, Congress on Tuesday said the result is extremely encouraging and that it indicates the changing mood in the country.
Addressing mediapersons here, Congress Spokesperson Manish Tewari said the victory in a Lok Sabha bypoll is something, which is not one of the events.
'Congress and its secular and pluralistic alliance partners have completely vanquished the BJP in the bypolls. It is extremely encouraging and indicates the changing mood in the country,' Mr Tewari said.
The ruling Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance in Karnataka is leading in two Lok Sabha constituencies and won two Assembly seats in the bypolls.
While the Congress is trailing in BJP stronghold Shivamoga, vacated by former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, it is leading in the JD (S) stronghold Mandya and BJP stronghold Bellari. The party has won Jamkhandi and Ramanagara Assembly seats.
Earlier in the day, former Union Minister P Chidambaram said the 'Coalition has delivered' and the victory looks like a Test series win under Virat Kohli, in Karnataka.
In a tweet, he said '4-1 result (unsure about Shimoga LS) in Karnataka looks like a Test series win under Virat Kohli. Coalition has delivered'.
Another senior leader Ahmed Patel said, 'It is a testimony to the pro-people performance of the state government and a trailer for 2019 Lok Sabha polls'.
According to Congress leaders, the result of the bypolls will help stitch a coalition against the Narendra Modi-led Union government, in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
