New Delhi, Jul 15 (UNI) In a new initiative by Indian Railways, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday flagged off a vinyl wrapped rake to honour and remember the sacrifices laid down by soldiers during the Kargil war.
Indian railways has done vinyl wrapping of several trains and one such train was flagged off by Dr Vardhan from the New Delhi Railway Station.
Mr Vardhan during the occasion lauded the efforts of Indian Railways and said they have done extraordinary work in past couple of years. " More than 2 lakh bio toilets have already been constructed, and it is not only Railways, every sector of India is progressing under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi." he said.
Hailing the supreme sacrifice laid down by our 'brave soldiers', Mr Vardhan said, " I bow down my head in front of them (Indian Army). The security forces have never let us down - be it any war."
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Meenakshi Lekhi who was also present on the occasion paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil war.
Ms Lekhi after the function stayed for some time and met several workers in the station. The workers including some labourers shared their problems to which the BJP parliamentarian assured timely solution.
The year 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the successful culmination of Operation Vijay wherein brave soldiers of the Indian Army overcame seemingly insurmountable odds, hostile terrain, weather, and a determined enemy occupying dominating heights, to win the Kargil war.
