Kanpur, Jul 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday increased the bounty on Vikas Dubey, who was the main accused in killing of eight policemen in Choubeypur area, sources said here on Sunday.
The sources further said that the Kanpur police has also announced reward of Rs 25,000 each on 18 of the henchmen of the main accused, who were also involved in the attack.
The other criminals, on whom bounty have been announced are Shyamu Bajpai, Chhotu Shukla, Monu (JCB driver) Jahan Yadav, Daya Shankar ,Shashikant ,Shiv Tiwari, Vishnu Pal Yadav, Ram Singh, Ramu Bajpai, Amar Dubey, Prabhat Mishra ,Gopal Saini,Veeru Dubey, Baun Shukla, Shivam Dubey, Bal Govind and Bauwa Dubey, they added.
Kanpur police was on toes soon after eight cops were ambushed while seven others sustained injuries in a fierce gunbattle in Chaubeypur area of the city on Friday .
On Saturday, SHO of Choubeypur police station Vinay Tiwari was suspended and taken in custody for leaking the information of the police raid to the goons. Three other policemen were also on the radar for their nexus with Vikas.
The authorities have also demolished the partial house of Vikas at Bikaru village on Saturday with the same JCB which was used to block the police party on the ill fated night.
The administration has also crushed two cars and tractors of the criminal.
