Auckland, Mar 21 (UNI) New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and women’s all-rounder Amelia Kerr on Thursday won the national player of the year award at the annual New Zealand Cricket awards in Auckland, New Zealand.
Williamson who successfully led the Black Caps across all three formats claimed the coveted Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for Men's Player of the Year. He also took home the Test Player of the Year award and the Redpath Cup for First-Class Batting.
Williamson had a hugely successful year across formats as he led New Zealand to five consecutive Test series wins – against West Indies, SriLanka, England, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He scored 925 runs in nine Tests, 838 runs in 21 ODIs and 332 runs from 15 T20Is from the start of 2018.
