Bhopal, Dec 17 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is a nine-time parliamentarian; his special interests being development of tribal folk and oppressed classes, wildlife, horticulture and socioeconomic issues.
He enunciated global concepts on Environmental Tariffs and conceptualised Global Emission Quotas; Mr Nath was chief spokesman for the developing countries at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, official sources said.
His firm grasp of economic issues and consummate diplomatic skills were evident in the World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations, where he emerged as one of the chief architects of the G-20 and G-33 Alliances and the Non-Agricultural Market Access-11. The WTO Ministerial Meeting at Hong Kong in 2005 was marked by his championing the cause of developing countries.
