New Delhi/Haridwar, Aug 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid homage to former Premier Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by sharing details of the information of programme of immersion of his ashes.
"Laut Kar aunga....kooch se kya darun (I will come back, why should I fear any onward journey)," the
Prime Minister tweeted.
The 'Asthi Visarjan' - immersion of ashes - programme will be done on Sunday afternoon in Haridwar.
Among others, BJP chief Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh besides the family members are attending the programme.
The Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and UP - Trivendra Singh Rawat and Yogi Adityanath - are also present.
'Asthi' is the left over bone or some collected ashes of the dead. After the last rites are performed, the remains are collected, preserved in reverence and immersed in rivers.
Hindus believe that immersion of the ashes and bones owe special significance if done in rivers like the Ganga.
