Kailash Gahlot: The lawyer who made bus travel better for women

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) Najafgarh MLA Kailash Gahlot, who made DTC buses free for women, was once again inducted in the Arvind Kejriwal-led Cabinet, after he took oath as a Minister on Sunday.

Mr Gahlot earlier held the portfolios of Transport, Revenue, Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs, Information & Technology, and Administrative Reforms, in the previous Aam Aadmi government, from 2015-2020.

Born on July 22, 1974, Mr Gahlot belongs to Mitraun village in Najafgarh, where his family has lived for over nine generations and have been working for the people of the area.

During his tenure, the AAP government strengthened the structure of public transport in the national capital, as several buses were procured under the cluster scheme.

Mr Gahlot, an advocate in the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court with over 16 years of legal practice, has a long-standing commitment to public service as a philanthropist, educationist and an entrepreneur for social change.

During 2005-2007, he was elected as Member Executive in the Bar Association of High Court in Delhi.
