Kabir Khan hails Kartik Aaryan's National Award win for 'Chandu Champion'

Mumbai, Jul 20 (UNI) Director Kabir Khan has lauded Kartik Aaryan's Best Actor win at the 72nd National Film Awards for "Chandu Champion", calling it a well-deserved recognition of the actor's extraordinary commitment and perseverance.
Khan said that as soon as he got the news of Aaryan receiving the National Award, he immediately called him and congratulated him. He said that this honour is the result of the actor's extraordinary hard work, dedication and acting talent.
The 57-year-old filmmaker said, "I am extremely happy for Kartik and proud of what he has achieved with 'Chandu Champion'. This is a film on which we all worked very hard. Kartik completely transformed himself physically and mentally for this character. I am happy that his hard work has been recognised at the national level."
He said Kartik's performance will be remembered for years to come. According to him, mainstream actors are often judged based on their popularity and stardom, but this award has truly recognised the 35-year-old actor's acting abilities and talent.
Khan revealed that Kartik prepared rigorously for about a year and a half to play Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar in "Chandu Champion." He trained in boxing with international athletes, learned a new dialect, underwent extensive body modifications, and studied extensively to portray the various phases of Petkar's life on screen. He also practised swimming without using his legs to portray the character with complete authenticity.
Khan said that Aaryan's National Award is well-deserved and a proud moment for the entire team. He added that he and the actor, who are currently busy shooting their next film, will celebrate this achievement at a special ceremony soon.
