Kabir Bedi, Farah Khan slam Sangeet Som's comments on Taj Mahal

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Bollywood celebrities Kabir Khan and Farah Khan today slammed the comments made by BJP leader Sangeet Som that the Taj Mahal was built by "traitors" and was a "blot on Indian culture".
Addressing a rally at Meerut, Som, commenting on Taj Mahal's exclusion from a Uttar Pradesh tourism booklet, said, 'Many people were worried that the Taj Mahal was removed from the list of historical places in the UP tourism booklet.
What history are we talking about? The man who built Taj Mahal imprisoned his father.
He wanted to massacre Hindus.
If this is history, then it is very unfortunate and we will change this history, I guarantee you.
" Reacting to the comments, veteran Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi said the remarks by Som reflected a complete ignorance of history.
'Having played Emperor Shah Jahaṅ on stage and screen, I must say BJP MP Sangeet Som's statements on him show a complete ignorance of history,' Bedi said in a tweet.
Bollywood choreographer turned director Farah Khan also slammed the comments by the BJP leader.
'Its foolish for anyone to try and smear the Taj because it was built by the Mughals.
Lets tear down the railway system and all buildings built by the British then.
" Instead of slandering the Taj, build a beautiful Ram temple in a space that is not holy to other faiths.
Build a Ram hospital next to it as well.
Build beautiful monuments that spread love, care for the poor and one that is a beautiful sight to see.
Be it a Temple, a mosque or Church,' Farah said.
Mr Som's comments drew flak from several quarters.
The comments were disowned by senior BJP leader Nalin Kohli .
"That is his individual view.
Taj Mahal is an important part of our history.
It's part of incredible India.
What happened in history cannot be erased but at least it can be well-written history,' he said.
Hours later, Mr Som issued a clarification.
"I don't oppose Taj Mahal.
It's a beautiful heritage.
I oppose the Mughals who built it and how they've been portrayed in history," he said.
