K'taka tops in startup projects

Hubballi, 26 Jan (UNI) Former chief minister and current Major and Medium Industries Minister, Mr Jagadish Shettar said on Tuesday that the Karnataka is in the top position with regard to the establishment of start-up projects and the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad stood at 11th position out of 100 smart cities in the country in the implementation of the smart city schemes.
Speaking after unfurling the National Flag at the RN Shetty District Sports ground in Dharwad City to mark the 72nd Republic Day celebrations today, Mr Shettar said that the state government has declared Hubballi as the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) cluster. Plus in Dharwad District alone, permissions have already been granted along with allotting land for the establishment of more than 15 start-up projects, bringing together an estimated investment of over 20,000 crores and creating more than 21,000 jobs. Once established, Hubballi will become the only FMCG cluster in the south of India, he said.
To begin with, the government has already granted 358 Acres of land in the Itagatti and Gamagatti areas in the twin cities to AEqas company to manufacture daily usable items with an investment of Rupees 3,524 crores and providing jobs to about 20,000 people. Also in the twin cities, 50 acres of land has been granted to U-Flex, India’s leading packaging company to manufacture packaging materials with an investment of Rs 1,464 crores and providing employment to about 1,000 people, he said.
