Justice Swarna Kanta not hearing liquor scam case after initiating contempt proceeding on Kejriwal & others proof of her ideal judicial conduct: Sachdeva

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Friday said that the decision of Delhi High Court Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma to withdraw from hearing the liquor scam case, after initiating criminal contempt proceedings against AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and others in the excise policy case, is a proof of her high judicial and personal ethics.
Sachdeva stated that despite several warnings from Justice Sharma, Kejriwal and other AAP leaders, continued to allegedly misuse social media, making inappropriate allegations against the judge in public speeches. Therefore, to protect her personal and family dignity, she had no option but to file a contempt case against Arvind Kejriwal, Sachdeva stated.
He further said that once Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma herself filed a contempt case against Kejriwal, who was already an accused in a case being heard in her court, it became necessary for her to step away from the main case in order to uphold higher judicial traditions.
