Justice Rafiq to be sworn in as Chief Justice of Meghalaya HC

Shillong, Nov 12 (UNI) Justice Muhammad Rafiq will be sworn in as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday, a court official said on Tuesday.
Governor Tathagata Roy will administer the oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony to be held in Raj Bhavan.
Justice Rafiq succeeds Ajay Kumar Mittal who is now the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, senior High Court judge, is the acting Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
On October 15, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Rajasthan High Court Judge Justice Rafiq as the new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.

trains on fire in Murshidabad, the worst hit district of West Bengal, hours after an irate
mob torched at least 15 buses and vandalized many vehicles on Kona Express highway
in Howrah, defying appeal of the Governor and Chief Minister to restore peace and refrain
from destroying the government property.
