New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) Former Supreme Court judge Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose was on Tuesday appointed the first Lokpal or anti-corruption ombudsman of India.
A communiqué from the Rashtrapati Bhawan said that 'the President of India is pleased to appoint Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose as the chairperson of the Lokpal'.
The President also appointed four justices- Mr Justice Dilip B Bhosale, Mr Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Mr Justice Abhilasha Kumari and Mr Justice Ajay Kumar Tripath as judicial members of the Lokpal.
He also appointed four others- Mr Dinesh Kumar Jain, Mrs Archana Ramasundaram, Mr Mahender Singh and
Dr Indrajeet Prasad Gautam as the non judicial members of the Lokpal.
'The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices,' the Rashtrapati Bhawan communiqué said.
