Agartala, Nov 14 (UNI) Tripura Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki administered oath of office to newly appointed Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura Justice Sanjay Karol in a simple ceremony at Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan this morning.
Justice Karol was the senior most judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court and become the fourth chief justice of Tripura. He attended the court after the swearing in ceremony and interacted with the officers and fellow judges of the high court before attending proceeding.
The post of chief justice has fallen vacant following elevation of Justice Ajoy Rastogi in Supreme Court recently. In the first day, he has headed a Division Bench and heard an admission petition along with Justice Arindam Lodh.
Justice Karol had arrived here with his family members last evening and was accorded a grand reception by top High Court officials at the Airport.
He had served as the Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh between 1998 and 2003. In March 2007, he was appointed as a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. In April this year, he was appointed Acting Chief Justice of the High Court.
