Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI) Asserting that Srinagar’s highest single-day jump in Coronavirus cases on Wednesday gives few hints, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said prevention was the need of the hour, not panic.
“It is still not late. Surveillance, tracing teams and doctors are doing their best,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day jump with 33 more persons, including 30 from Kashmir and three from Jammu, testing positive, taking the total number of infected people to 158.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has risen to four in the Union Territory as a woman from Udhampur, who had tested positive for the infection, died late last night.
Dr Choudhary said each of 15 cases in Srinagar was already in quarantine and had established contacts with earlier positive cases. “Five had foreign travel history,” he said.
“Srinagar’s highest jump of Covid +ve cases has few hints for us: each of 15 was already in quarantine/ established contacts of earlier positive, 5 with foreign travel history. It is still not late. Prevention, no panic. Surveillance/Tracing teams & Doctors doing their best,” Dr Choudhary twitted.
