Jonny Bairstow, David Warner help SRH to nine wickets win over KKR

Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) Riding on blistering knocks by David Warner (67 runs off 38 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (62 off 39 balls) Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets in the IPL on Sunday here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Both Warner and Bairstow shared a 131-runs-partnership for the first wicket and guided SRH towards victory.
KKR bowlers looked hapless. It was not only that the batsmen were in top form, but it seemed that fielders were also helping them much as Jonny Bairstow was dropped thrice. They spent runs but failed to grab wickets. However, it was Prithvi Raj who got the first breakthrough for his team as he dismissed David Warner. But the work was already done by Warner when fell to Raj.
Later, SRH skipper, Kane Williamson joined Bairstow but he didn't have to do much as Bairstow smashed two consecutive sixes and finished off the target with more than five overs remaining and nine wickets in hand. Williamson scored eight runs off nine balls and remained unbeaten.
The one-sided thrashing has powered SRH to the top four on the points table, while KKR suffered their fifth successive loss of the season.
Earlier, Riding on Chris Lynn 51 runs off 47 balls helped Kolkata Knight Riders to post a total of 159/8 against SRH.
Put into bat, KKR got off to a good start. Both Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine added 42 runs for the first wicket. After giving a good start Narine was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed. He scored a quick fire 25 runs off eight balls.
After Narine dismissal, Shubman Gill (3), Nitish Rana (11) and Dinesh Karthik (6) were faile to contrubute much and added only 31 runs with Lynn and were departed one after another.
However, Lynn got a support from Rinku Singh who with him shared a 51-runs-partnership and took KKR to 124 in 15.3 overs.
Later, Singh was sent to pavilion by Sandeep Sharma when he targeted a length ball around off and tried to power it over mid-wicket. He failed to get enough power behind it and Rashid rushed forward from the deep to take a fine low catch. Singh scored 30 runs off 25 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.
Other batsmen, Andre Russell scored 15 runs, Piyush Chawla four runs, while KC Cariappa scored nine runs and remained unbeaten.
