New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Days after a professor of JNU, Dr Buddha Singh alleged that his car was vandalised by some miscreants after he had organised a condolence meeting for Sukma and Kupwara martyrs, a group of JNU teachers today condemned the incident and questioned Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers Association's (JNUTA's) silence over the issue. At a press conference organised by some JNU proffesors here, they said, "we, as concerned faculty members on behalf of teaching community are outraged at this mindless vandalism and strongly condemn this most cowardly criminal act directed to one of our colleague." "A heinous act like this cannot defame JNU or its fame for research and education of the highest quality. We are surprised by the silence of the JNUTA on this incidence that is not only directed to one of the JNU faculty, but also threatened the security of the faculties’ family," the teachers said. Dr Singh, who was also present told reporters that the incident was the reward of conducting condolence meeting for Indian Army and CRPF. "Vandalising car and pelting stone on home is an cowardice and shameful act who so ever did it. A complaint has been registered against anonymous person at Vasant Kunj Police Station," he asserted. In this regard, we are going to meet Vice Chancellor and will demand a proper enquiry. A strong action should be taken against this shameful and cowardice act. We also demands for installation of CCTV camera in campus premises, Dr Singh said. Former Joint Secretary of JNUSU and ABVP leader Saurabh Sharma in a statement said, "this stone pelting act was done by frustrated communist goons. After this shameful act there is no any kind of condemnation by current JNUSU and JNUTA which is clear indication about secret support to naxalism and terrorism. I demand to JNU administration a proper investigation enquiry about it." UNI DS PY SHK 2041
