JKLF chief Malik, HC leader War arrested ahead of Gaw Kadal massacre anniv

Srinagar, Jan 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik and senior leader of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Er Hilal Ahmad War were arrested by police this afternoon.
The arrest of Malik and War, residents of Maisuma near here, comes ahead of death anniversary of 52 people and injuries to over 200 in security force firing on this day in 1990 at Gaw Kadal.
Both factions of the HC and JKLF, spearheading the agitation since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Anantnag, had called for strike in the area tomorrow.
