JK: BJP woman leader hoist tricolour in Anantnag

Anantnag, Aug 5 (UNI) A local woman leader of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hoisted national flag at Lal Chowk in this south Kashmir district to celebrate the anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and division of the state into two separate Union Territories (UTs).
The lone BJP leader, Rumisa Rafiq, appeared at Lal Chowk in the main town of Anantnag today carrying a national flag, when the entire area wore deserted look as no one was visible. Later, the woman, ignoring all threat perception, hoisted national flag on the wall of fountain.
Her hoisting act comes nearly 12 hours after a BJP Sarpanch Asif Ahmad was shot at and critically injured by militants at Qazigund in south Kashmir last night. The wounded BJP leader was later referred to Srinagar hospital by doctors of local hospital.
Today, August 5, marks one year of abrogation of special status that was granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP in the Union Territory has given a call for celebrations.
Ms Iltija, who is handling the Twitter account of her mother former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti presently detained under Public Safety Act (PSA), reacted sharply to hoisting the national flag.
In a tweet she said "With restrictions on the overwhelming majority in J&K who want to peacefully protest, police & admin organises curated photo ops of a select few hoisting national flag."

“I have respect for the ECI that has taken cognisance of my party’s complaints and acted on them. However, removal of Mr Nath’s name constitutes a violation of rules as that is the exclusive jurisdiction of political parties and not the ECI.
