Leh, Nov 28 (UNI) Impressing upon the officials to ensure safe tap water supply of prescribed quality for handwashing, and in toilets and urinals in schools, Anganwadi Centres, Gram Panchayats, and Community Health Centres, the Commissioner/Secretary, PHE (Jal Shakti), Ajeet Kumar Sahu, UT Government of Ladakh on Monday said that the availability of safe tap water supply including hot water during winter through solar-powered heaters to children in schools and Anganwadi Centres will not only contribute to their better health, but also improve sanitation, and hygiene across villages in the Union Territory on a priority basis.
Sahu was chairing a meeting to review the progress of works of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh, at the Civil Secretariat, Leh.
Under this campaign, he said that tap water supply will be provided for drinking and cooking mid-day meals, in schools and Anganwadi centres.
