Jitendra Singh holds interaction with J&K students in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Jitendra Singh on Monday held an informal interaction with a group of over 150 students from Jammu and Kashmir, hailing from district Samba, currently visiting Delhi, as part of 'Bharat Darshan' tour.

The students met Dr Singh at his residence and spent nearly two hours in a lively one-to-one conversation.

The students, mostly in the age group of 13 to 15 years, felt excited to narrate their travel experiences and the sites visited by them to the Minister.
They were quite amused, when Dr Singh told them that while they were fortunate to have travelled from Jammu to Delhi by Air at this young age, he himself had never seen an Aircraft or travelled by Air, till he was around 30 years of age and that he had boarded a Helicopter for the first time, only after becoming a Minister in 2014.

The students indulged in free, frank exchange of ideas and also offered their opinions on diverse subjects.
When asked to narrate some of the important features of Samba, they referred to it's Forts and also it's Kandi belt. In turn, Dr Singh reminded them that nearby is the ancestral village of late Brigadier Rajinder Singh, who had attained martyrdom, while holding back the Pakistani invaders in 1947.
The students also spoke about their interests and hobbies, as well as the curriculum of their studies. A number of premier educational institutions, including AIIMS and IIM, were coming up in their close vicinity, they were told.

After spending two days in the national capital, the group of students is scheduled to fly to Hyderabad, where their itinerary includes visit to Salar Jung Museum and other monumental places.

The Bharat Darshan tour is being conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jammu & Kashmir Police and the local administration. The group includes a combination of boys and girls from Government High Schools, as well as Private Schools.
