Jharkhand Polls: Clash between villagers and security forces in Sisai, 1 reported dead, half a dozen policemen injured

Jharkhand Polls: Clash between villagers and security forces in Sisai, 1 reported dead, half a dozen policemen injured

Gumla/Ranchi, Dec 7 (UNI) A clash broke out between villagers and security forces at booth number 36 located at Kudra panchayat under Sisai assembly segment, in which half a dozen policemen were injured and a youth reportedly died in police firing.

Police personnel deployed at the booth said some anti-social elements had gathered around the booth and created a crowd.

To streamline the queue, the policemen asked the villagers to stand properly, following which an altercation broke out between the two sides.

The villagers accused the policemen of preventing them from voting. But gradually things went out of control and police resorted to firing bullets in the air to disperse the crowd, to which the people retaliated the with stone pelting.

A youth sustained injuries in the police firing and was rushed to a hospital, where, the locals claimed, he succumbed to the injury. However, an official confirmation is awaited.

Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey has sought a report from the district administration over the entire issue.

Officer in charge of Sisai Police Station Vishnu Deo Chowdhary is also among the injured policemen.

Nodal officer of Jharkhand Police for Assembly Elections ML Meena said some anti-social elements had tried to snatch the arms of the RAF jawans, forcing them to fire shots in air, which injures a youth who has been admitted to hospital.
