Jharkhand mob lynching case: NHRC issues notice to DGP

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Taking suo motu cognisance of media report that seven persons were allegedly lynched by mob on suspicion of being child kidnappers in Jharkhand, the National Human Rights Commission today issued a notice to the state Director General of Police and asked to file a detailed report on the matter within four weeks.
This was informed by the rights group through a statement here.
"A civilised society cannot allow such heinous crimes to occur where human lives are taken by angry mob merely on suspicion of them being anti-social elements. The incidents amount to violation of right to life of the innocent victims targeted by the perpetrators. The law enforcing agencies of the state have certainly failed to perform their lawful duty, " the NHRC observed.
