Jharkhand millet mission renamed 'Jharkhand Madua Kranti': Minister Shilpi Tirkey

Ranchi, Dec 12 (UNI) The Jharkhand Millet Mission will now be known as “Jharkhand Madua Kranti”, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey announced.
The decision has been taken in view of the growing preference and acceptance of madua (ragi/finger millet) cultivation among farmers in rural areas.
Addressing the incentive disbursement programme under the Jharkhand State Millet Mission 2025–26 at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry in Ranchi, the minister transferred ₹15,63,24,900 as incentive to the bank accounts of 32,911 farmers through DBT. During 2024–25, around 18,000 farmers benefited from incentive support for millet cultivation.

Meghalaya names squad for Senior Women's One Day Trophy 2025-26

Shillong, Jan 21 (UNI): A 15-member squad was named on Wednesday by the Meghalaya Cricket Association's senior women's selection committee for the BCCI's Senior Women One Day Trophy 2025-26 plate group, which will be held in Febuary.
The team will be captained by stalwart Debasmita Dutta, with Monica Lyngdoh Phawa as the vice-captain.

Odisha CM urges farmers to embrace fish farming and animal husbandry for self-reliance

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday urged farmers to diversify their income by engaging in fish farming, cattle rearing, and animal husbandry alongside traditional agriculture.
Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Conclave, Odisha-2026, Majhi emphasized the state government’s determination to make Odisha self-reliant in fish, meat, chicken, and eggs.
