Jharkhand CM condemns shoe attack on CJI Gavai

Ranchi, Oct 7 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has strongly condemned the alleged incident of a lawyer throwing a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai inside the Supreme Court, describing it as an attack on the very soul of democracy.
The Chief Minister wrote, on X, “The attack on CJI Gavai is an assault on the soul of democracy. The dignity and independence of the judiciary form the foundation of any democratic system raising a hand against it is equivalent to attacking the Constitution of our nation. I strongly condemn this cowardly act.”
It may be recalled that during court proceedings yesterday, a lawyer allegedly attempted to throw a shoe at CJI B.R. Gavai inside the Supreme Court.
