Jharkhand among 10 states grappling unemployment most: Pranav Jha

Ranchi, Dec 10 (UNI) Congress spokesperson Pranav Jha on Tuesday hit out at BJP's double engine government poll pitch and said a failed engine is ruling Jharkhand.
Addressing a press conference at the state unit Congress headquarters here, he said the government is at the receiving end on all the fronts as the BJP leaders have no answer for questions on unemployment and economic slow down.
He said the country is in the grip of economic slow down and economists from across the world are expressing concern over the situation. Closure of factories and mass layoffs have made the unemployment scene more scary.
He said farm sector distress is growing and onion and petrol prices are making the common people cry. Jharkhand is among the10 states which have been worst hit by unemployment, he added.
The Congress leader said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to provide 2 crore jobs every year and even Raghubar Das had promised job creation in the state, but Jharkhand ranks 6th among the states worst hit by unemployment.
Citing various data, Jha said that every fifth youth in Jharkhand is unemployed while 46 per cent graduates are jobless.
Moreover, rate of unemployment is skewed towards women.
He said poor employment opportunities are forcing lakhs of youth to leave their homes and migrate to other states in search of jobs.
