Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Aug 14 (UNI) Following incessant rains in past few days, the water level in the Jayakwadi dam has risen to 2,100 Million Cubic Meters(MCM), which is 59 per cent of its' total capacity, a report said on Friday.
Known as lifeline of the Marathwada region, Jayakwadi sustains the water needs of more than 200 villages, cities of Aurangabad and Jalna, and three major industrial estates. It also provides irrigation water for 1.84 lakh ha land in the region.
Presently, there is an inflow of 18,762 cusec per second from the catchment areas into the dam, report told, adding that the upstream dams are adding their waters in Jayakwadi.
