Chennai, Jan 17 (UNI) Claiming to have the MGR's legacy, Ms Deepa Jayakumar, niece of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, today took the political plunge on the occasion of MGR's birth centenary and said she would unveil her next course of action on February 24, the birth anniversary of Ms Jayalalithaa. Announcing her decision to enter politics after paying tributes at the memorial of MGR on the Marina beach front, she said 'I am going to start my public life. I am entering politics by following the footsteps of her aunt to serve the people of the State'. Ms Deepa, who claims MGR legacy, said since she needed some time, she would announce her political plans--on whether to join the AIADMK or form a new political party--on February 24. "After her (Jayalalithaa) demise, several changes has taken place in the State political scene. With the blessings of (Amma), I am going to start my public life", added. Observing that she would not accept anyone other than MGR and Jayalallithaa as her leader, Deepa said “I need time to decide. Have to discuss with people. We have to get everybody’s views'. "February 24 is a great day...there is no best day other than her (Jayalalithaa) birthday to announce my political plans", she said, amid loud cheers from a large number of supporters, who had thronged her city residence.
