Chennai, Jan 17 (UNI) Hours ahead of her possible announcement on taking the political plunge, Ms Deepa Jayakumar, niece of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, today paid rich tributes to AIADMK Founder MGR on his birth centenary here today. After garlanding the MGR's statue at his memorial house in T.Nagar and paying tributes to his decorated portrait, Deepa vistied the MGR memorial on the Marina beach front and paid rich tributes. Hundreds of her supporters, who have been constantly urging her to lead them by forming a new party as she claimed the MGR legacy, had thronged at Marina on the occasion. Her supporters greeted her with a loud applause. Ms Deepa, who claims MGR legacy, would hold consultations with her supporters at her residence and was expected to announce her political plunge later in the day. While addressing her supporters, who had been gathering in front of her house on a daily basis, Deepa, waving the AIADMK's 'Two Leaves' symbol, asked the cadre to be calm. She said on the birth centenary of MGR, who had worked for the upliftment of the poor, with his blessings, we will function together”. Her supporters were excited and the decibel level reached a crescendo when she said “we are to begin a new journey. An announcement on it will come out soon”. Posters and banners had been erected in front of her house by her supporters and in several parts of Tamil Nadu with claims of Jayalalithaa legacy.
