Javadekar denies allegations of relaxation in environmental clearance rules

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Denying the allegations over leniency in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Minister of Environment and Forests and Climate change Prakash Javadekar has sent a detailed reply to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.
In a letter written to the former environment minister today, Mr Javadekar has said that strict action will be taken on the categories of projects which have been allowed to start work before approval, if they violate any rules.
Javadekar further said that during the time of previous government, in the year 2010, only by issuing an office memorandum, an attempt was made to change the rules of notification, which was rejected by the National Green Tribunal as invalid.
