Jarkiholi-Savadi rivalry flares up again in Karnataka

Belagavi, May 10 (UNI) The long-running political rivalry between former Karnataka Minister and BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi and Congress MLA Laxman Savadi has flared up once again in Belagavi district, triggering fresh political tensions in the Athani region.
The renewed war of words erupted after Savadi, while addressing a public gathering in Telasang village, made an indirect remark about “teaching political opponents a lesson,” which was seen as aimed at Jarkiholi. The statement has reignited the simmering feud between the two senior leaders, who have been political adversaries for several decades.
The rivalry between the two leaders had briefly cooled down in recent months following intense exchanges during the Belagavi DCC Bank elections nearly ten months ago. At the time, a viral video allegedly showed Jarkiholi telling supporters that Savadi would be “sent back to sugarcane harvesting,” drawing sharp criticism from Savadi’s camp, including his son Chidanand Savadi.
