Gorakhpur, Sep 7 (UNI) Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today continued his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that while the common man was facing a plethora of problems, Mr Modi was enjoying his life, oblivious to the people's sufferings. Mr Gandhi, during a road show in Gorakhpur on the second day of his 2,500-km 'Kisan Yatra,' which began from Deoria yesterday, said 'Janata trastra hai, Modijee mast hai'. 'Modijee should not run a suit-boot government, but should take care of the poor,' the AICC vice-president suggested. Lashing out at the Prime Minister, he said, "The Centre has forgotten the farmers of country. Modi waved off the loans of rich farmers and not the ones coming from a poor background. "Like we had waived off Rs 70,000 crore debt for farmers, we will put pressure on NDA government to do the same in the interest of farmers," he added. Earlier today, Mr Gandhi met Encephalitis patients at Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur. After meeting the patients, he said that a permanent solution should be evolved to save the lives of hundred of children killed in the epidemic. Yesterday too, Mr Gandhi had accused the Narendra Modi government of ignoring the plight of peasants, while interacting with the locals in Deoria. Addressing a gathering at Rudrapur in Deoria yesterday, Mr Gandhi had said Mr Modi was ready to waive off the loans of rich corporates, but wasn't willing to do that in the case of ryots. As part of his 'Deoria to Delhi Yatra', Mr Gandhi will cover 39 districts, spread over 55 of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Mr Gandhi asserted that he and his party would always stand by the distressed farmers. "We will not allow an inch of their land to be taken forcibly for developmental or any other purposes," he said. He suggested that the government could help the farmers in three ways. One, by writing off loans taken by them. Second, by slashing electricity bills to half and third by increasing the minimum support price (MSP) for their crops. The first such event went awry yesterday, when soon after the event ended with first Khat Sabha, farmers jostled to grab some 2,000 string cots, which were bought by the Congress. UNI MB RJ 1755
