Jammu SOG nabs inter-state smugglers with poppy straw

Jammu, Dec 3 (UNI) The sleuths of Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested inter-state smugglers with contraband of poppy straw in Udhampur district.
SSP Operations Sandeep Mehta here said that SOG Jammu has achieved a major success by recovering Poppy Straw in two different raids at separate places under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur late on Tuesday.
He revealed that SOG Jammu laid a special naka with the sleuths of PS Udhampur and intercepted a truck, which was coming from Kashmir towards Jammu.
The cops arrested one narcotic smuggler who was smuggling the 365 kilograms Poppy straw concealed in bags in the truck, said the SSP.
The top cop added that the driver has been identified as Sunil Kumar of Gandhi Camp Jalandhar, Punjab.
A case has been registered and investigation started.
Mr Mehta further added that during checking at Jakheni late last night, SOG men intercepted a truck (PB32E 7299) driven by Lucky of Chitta Pindh, District Jalandhar, Punjab and recovered 346 kg poppy straw from the truck.

MP CM raises Sainik School issue

Bhopal, July 5 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a courtesy call on Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh on Sunday at the latter’s New Delhi residence – the first such interaction after the former politician assumed this state’s reins in March, official sources said.
During the meeting, the visiting leader urged establishment of a Sainik School within Chambal Division, which is long pending.
