Jamia violence: Cong's typical character to speak against security forces, says BJP

New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) BJP on Monday strongly condemned the Congress for giving 'political colour' to the violent incidents that took place in and around Jamia University and said it was typical character of the principal Opposition party to speak against the security forces.
'We strongly condemn the attempts by Congress party to give political colour to the violent incidents that took place in and around Jamia University. It is their character to side with the forces that are inimical to the police and security forces of the country,' said BJP spokesperson G V L Narsimha Rao in a press conference at party headquarters here.
He said constantly speaking in favour of those who endanger the security of the country has become the policy of Congress today.
'The Congress is consistently supporting the anarchic elements. It expresses condolences with them while raising questions against the police jawans who sacrifice their lives to keep the country safe and secure,' the BJP spokesman said.
Alleging that the Congress was defending the rioters. Mr Rao said the country knows how Sonia Gandhi wept uncontrollably at the sight of deaths of some Islamic terrorists but she chose not to have a word of sympathy for the police inspector who died in the same Batla House encounter.
'Priyanka Vadra is truly following her footsteps,' he pointed out.
Congress leaders like Kapil Sibal and Priyanka Vadra also blamed the police without understanding the subject, Mr Rao maintained.
He said two days ago, even Rahul Gandhi did not express any condolences to the soldiers who were martyred in Pulwama two days ago, but raised questions against armed forces.
'Some videos of Jamia University are shown in the media, on which we say that Delhi Police has those videos and it was investigating,' he said.
Mr Rao stated that stones are visible in the hands of the students and questioned that whether they were students or people from outside have come to spread violence.
'If they were students then why were their faces hidden in masks in the library and why were stones in their hands,' he said and asked 'what kind of 'pathar ki pathai'(study of stones) is this?'
The BJP condemns the politisation of these incidents, the BJP spokesperson said.
