Jamaat expresses concern over Centre's stand on minority status of AMU

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Expressing serious concern over the decision of the Centre to question as conveyed to the Supreme Court in respect of the minority character of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) today said it is a deliberate neglect of the Constitutional rights given to minorities.
The JIH said it was a negation of a well-known fact that the AMU was established by the Muslim community to improve its educational status in India.
The JIH urged the government to correct its stand not to disregard the rightful demand of the country’s largest minority about AMU, keeping in view their sentiments.
