Jaleel demands special package for rain-hit farmers of Marathwada

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 1 (UNI) AIMIM MP from Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel on Wednesday raised the issue of suicides by farmers in Marathwada region of Maharashtra in Lok Sabha on Wednesday and also extended his support for passing of Minimum Support Price (MSP) law.
He informed the House that across the Marathwada region over 756 panic-stricken farmers committed suicides in past one year, with majority of incidents being reported in Beed district (174) followed by Aurangabad (150).
Due to recent torrential rains in the region, farmers have suffered losses as their crops were totally destroyed but insurance companies did not provide compensation to the affected farmers, he said.
