Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal arrested in alleged rape nun case

Kochi, Sep 21 (UNI) Giving up uncertainty, confusion and speculations, Kerala Police have informed that they have decided to arrest Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who is charged of raping a nun multiple times between 2014 and 2016, here on Friday.
Kottayam Superintendent of police Harisankar told media "we have decided to arrest bishop. However, his arrest was not yet recorded. But decided to arrest him."
Asked about the time or what the delay for recording him is arrest the police officer told that there are certain paper works,which are to be completed and as well as some legal clearings in this regard.
However, the SP confirmed that the investigation officer during his interrogation had concluded that the bishop had committed the crime.
Asked about producing him before the court, he said that would be decided on the timing of the court.
The bishop was being questioned for the past three days and the decision of his arrest was taken at the end of the day.
A complaint was lodged by the nun against the bishop on June 28 and an agitation was started by five nuns about 14 days led to him after 86 days.
The bishop will be taken to Tripunithua taluk office for medical check up, before producing in the court.
