Chennai, Sep 24 (UNI) The Jal Shakti Ministry on Tuesday said the inflow into the Mettur Dam was expected to be heavy in views of heavy rains in Karnataka and advised the four district collectors in Tamil Nadu to take precautionary steps.
In a letter to the Collectors of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem and Erode districts, Executive Engineer R Saravanan said due to heavy rains in catchment areas of Shimsha river, Mandya and Tumkur districts of Karnataka, Mettur dam was likely to receive inflow of approximately 30,000 cusecs from today evening, which would increase to 50,000 cusecs by midnight and remain steady thereafter.
'As the Mettur Dam is at Full Reservoir Level (FRL), release from the Dam may be made as per rule curve', he said.
