Jaitley flays 'high priest of RBI autonomy' Yashwant; says RBI chiefs quit during Nehru era too

New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday ridiculed the opposition parties for attacking the Government over the resignation of RBI Governor Urjit Patel and said such an episode was nothing new in India as RBI chiefs had quit their post during the time of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi and also during the Chandra Shekhar regime when Yashwant Sinha was the finance minister.
Calling Mr Sinha a newly-turned "high priest of RBI autonomy", the BJP leader lashed out at former senior colleague and one of his illustrious predecessors.
"Yashwant Sinha, who became the high priest of RBI's autonomy....during Chandra Shekhar's government called RBI Governor R N Malhotra and said 'I want your resignation'," Mr Jaitley told India Today conclave.
