Jaitley flags  off Bar Coded BMP-II

Hyderabad, Aug 27 (UNI) Union Minister for Defence and Finance Arun Jaitley flagged off first Bar Coded Infantry Combat Vehicle BMP-II, today. Mr Jaitley accompanied by Secretary (Defence Production), Ashok Kumar Gupta, visited integration facilities of Ordinance factory, at Medak on the outskirts of the city. The vehicle was handed over to Lt Gen A B Shivane, Director General of Mechanised Forces (DGMF) by Ordnance Factory General manager Bharat Singh in the presence of Defence Minister and Mr Gupta. Ordinance Factory which has aligned to successfully implement Government programe of Digital India has introduced Bar Coding System for critical components and major assemblies for effective tracking of various items at various stages of manufacturing and assembly of BMP vehicles and its variants. With the implementation of Bar Coding of the items, user interface for defect intimation, investigation and defect identification time will come down to hours from weeks. UNI VV KNR CS 1800
