Jai Prakash Nishad, BJP candidate for UP RS bypolls

Lucknow, Aug 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party here on Tuesday announced the name of Jai Prakash Nishad as its candidate for Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha bypolls.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Samajwadi Party member Beni Prasad Verma (79) on March 27. He was suffering from prolonged illness. The tenure of the seat is till July 4, 2022.
The 60-year-old Nishad is a Member of Legislative Assembly from Deoria seat (Rudrapur) and vice-president of the BJP of Gorakhpur region. He has also worked as the state minister.
