Jagannath temple to develop pilgrim facility and set up traditional Gurukul school

Puri, Mar 15 (UNI) The Sri Jagannath temple managing body today decided to develop pilgrim facility with a cost 38 crores and construct a traditional Gurukul school at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore.
Temple Chief Administrator P K Mohapatra said, two MoUs would be executed between the NALCO and the temple as NALCO has agreed to spend Rs. 56 crores from its CSR funds to construct a mega Bhakta Nivas (pilgrim housing) near bus stand at Malatipatapur.
The public sector company will also develop the Jagannath ballav mutt where an interpretation center would be created for the devotees who were not allowed to enter into the temple, Mr. Mahapatra said.
The temple managing body today passed a surplus budget of about Rs.102 crores for 2019-20 fiscal year which is almost 24 per cent more than the previous year budget.
On the income side, it was estimated that the temple will earn Rs.101,23,2660 from disposal of land and auction of quarries besides government grant while the expenditure column was pegged to Rs.78 crore.
The servitor welfare fund remains same as previous year with Rs. 5 crore and efforts will be made to increase earnings from donation which comes about Rs. 4 crore per year. New schemes were being worked out to increase earnings from donation, Mr. Mohapatra said.
This year the corpus fund is likely to increase to Rs. 700 crores from Rs. 650 crore, Mr Mahapatra said.
The temple body has urged the state government to bear the salary of the temple employees which is a burden on the temple.
The state government has approved the norms proposed by the temple body for sell of temple land. This would help increase earnings from sell of endowment property which was stalled for so many years in absence of an uniform and clear policy on the issue, the temple Chief Administrator said.
This apart, six crore Rupees would be spent for organizing the annual car festival of deities.
The meeting was presided over by the Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb.
The budget would be sent to the state government for approval.
